1. How can you help a foreign couple looking to marry at Mount Nelson Hotel?

3. What is so special about the Mount Nelson?
This 105-year old property is situated at the foot of Table Mountain amid nine acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the ideal setting for a wedding, and the unique blush pink exterior makes a wonderfully romantic backdrop for photographs. Seven individually decorated function rooms are available for events ranging fron two to more than 200 guests, with dancing, and our on-site florist and coordinators are thoroughly versed in wedding management.
4. Who does this location appeal to?
South Africa's cultural diversity ensures that we are accustomed to offering a variety of religious ceremonies and our kosher kitchen means that Jewish weddings and receptions are very popular. As the |
English language is widely spoken, the hotel is a favourite both with the British and Americans, who also appreciate our "colonial" atmosphere and exacting standards.
5. What are the legal requirements for foreigners marrying in South Africa? Couples require their passports, copies of previous marriage/divorce documents and birth certificates. The minister will perform the service and arrange all legal documentation. The only limitation to the venue is that the signing of the register needs to take place under a roof.

beautiful wine farm in Constantia, surrounded by loved ones who had flown over specially for the event. Everyone was transported in vintage cars along the Platinum Mile, with beautiful vistas along the way. Guests were then welcomed at the Mount Nelson where they sipped fine wines from the Cape's famous vineyards. After a meal within a marquee, guests went on to dance the night away to the sounds of one of Cape Town's talented bands. A true fairy-tale wedding.
7. What are the timings involved and major points to consider?
It is wise to book a venue a year in advance for a large wedding, while smaller gatherings can be arranged within 48 hours. Services such as florists, photographers, a minister and décor can be organised |
at short notice but they will be subject to availability. Photographers and wedding licenses take approximately two days to process.
8. What is your top tip for an unforgettable occasion?
It is important that everything is planned in advance and well organised, so pick your service providers carefully and make full use of their recommendations - they are, after all, the people who are experienced in these matters.
